What are the fees and what do they cover?
Fall 2020/Spring 2021 paid registration includes:
Players are responsible for providing shin guards (required to play) and cleats (if desired). Cleats must be soccer cleats (no front toe spikes).
*A regular fall and spring season would consist of a total of 8 games in the fall and 8 games in the spring. Because of COVID 19, we were unable to hold a spring 2020 soccer season. OYS is adding those games that were missed in the spring, to our fall 2020 and spring 2021 season. So this season will have 12 games in the fall and 12 games in the spring.
8 Fall Season soccer games + 4 games, carried over from Spring 2020* = 12 games total
8 Spring Season soccer games + 4 games, carried over from Spring 2020* = 12 games total
A uniform (a jersey, shorts, and socks)
A soccer ball
Referees (for U9-older ages)
What if I only want to play soccer in the Spring?
The costs are the same whether your child plays one season or both seasons. The fees required to play do not vary for one season or two seasons, therefore the cost is not reduced if your child only plays in the Spring.
How old do my kids need to be to play and what age division are they in?
Each player must be at least 4 years old on or before December 31. If your child turned 4 after December 31 the player is too young for this season.
Each player must be under 19 years of age on December 31. OYS Age divisions are U6, U8, U10, U13, Coed 14-18yr. U = “under the age of” as of December 31.
Age divisions are in two year increments and are gender specific from age 4-13. Boys play on teams with other boys and girls play on teams with other girls. 3/4/5 years old play together in U6. 6/7 year olds play together in U8 and so on.
The Coed division is for our teenage players ages 14-18. ALL participants (ages 4-17) will be placed into divisions based on their age as of December 31.

How are kids placed on teams?
Players will be placed on teams by individual age group coordinators. Age group coordinators will try to form teams locally (nearby schools), however this is not guaranteed.
The age group coordinator will do their best to honor buddy requests as long as there are enough spots available on the team. Those who register early have a higher chance of their request being honored, however no buddy request is guaranteed.
My kid is a great soccer player! What options do I have?
You can request to have your player play up a year (they will play on a team with older players). If you choose to do this, please email Jenny at
email@example.com. Please keep in mind that players can only play up one year. For example, a five year old (U6) can play with the (U7-U8), but a four year old (U5) cannot play with the U7-U8 players.
OYS has created a new young coed program to challenge and develop those players who are already excelling. This program for U6-U8 players is by invitation only. Practices will be more intense and coaches are held to a higher standard than recreation.
What will the game and practice schedule be?
Games are typically Saturdays and possible weekday evening. All games are played at Lakeside Sports Park (1850 W. 400 S, Orem, UT).
Practice times and locations are determined by the head coach of each team. Practices are held at local schools on a first come first serve basis.

Can I get a refund on my registration?
Orem Youth Soccer has a no refund policy.
A player registration fee is established each year to pay for necessary program expenses such as uniforms, team equipment, field equipment and maintenance, league administrative support, accident reimbursement plan, liability insurance, State Office administration and national USYS dues.
UYSA leagues are authorized to set their own registration fees, subject to approval by their District Committee. The fee charged by the State Office for administration shall be uniform for all members throughout the State. The Board of Directors at their discretion can offer incoming leagues lower fees for a limited time.
In rare situations, we may refund. Only the league president or the authorized agent that collects the registration fees, can authorize a refund of any or all of the registration fees. Neither the district nor the state has the authority to change the league president's decision. If a decision is made to refund, the UYSA and convenience fees are never refunded.
